  • (1888PressRelease) January 20, 2012 - New Delhi: Sahara Next, the IT Company of Sahara India Pariwar has bagged India Digital Awards in the category of Mobile Governance, in the second edition of the India Digital Awards that were held today at India Habitat Centre. The awards are being organised by The Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), a not-for-profit industry body registered under the Societies Act 1896 with mandate to expand and enhance the online and mobile value added services sectors. The comprehensive awards under different categories are meant to felicitate the achievement and efforts of all those individuals and companies who have contributed towards the development and enhancement of online and mobile value added services in India. The awards will have 6 main categories and a total of 33 sub-categories.

    Sahara Next was bestowed with the award for deploying Mobile Fertilizer Management System for National Informatics Centre (N.I.C.) on behalf of Department of Fertilizer. The project was awarded to Sahara Next by N.I.C. on behalf of Department of Fertilizers, Government of India to monitor the movement of the fertilizer from the manufacturer to Warehouse to Wholesalers and from Wholesalers to Retailers. The objective of the proposed system was to help in monitoring the movement of Fertilizer's consignments and its stock position at various warehouses, wholesaler, and retailer. The system was to also act as a tool for Government Bodies to track and ensure the timely distribution of fertilizers to the farmers. The role assigned to Sahara Next included System Study, development of business requirement document, development of Project Plan, development of SRS for the web and mobile application, web application development, Mobile application development, Training of the fertilizer company employee on the web and mobile application across counter, Training of the fertilizer wholesaler and retailer in North East on the web and mobile application, Assisting NIC in pilot roll out and supporting the application

    Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Soodip Neogi, Group Head IT, Sahara India Pariwar, President & Head of Sahara Next, for Sahara India Pariwar said, "I am really thankful to IAMAI for providing a great platform for recognizing and awarding the emerging and proven drivers of the industry through the Digital Awards Summit by showcasing their contribution". He also said, "Sahara Next has been bestowed with an award for showcasing it's indulgence in mobile e-governance."

    The nominees of the awards were selected by the members of the Jury from the best work entered through the call for entries. The awardees of this coveted trophy were selected through an extensive 2 tier selection process. In the first round, jury members independently inspected each entry and rate them based on their respective judging criteria. Each entry got evaluated by more than 1 jury member. Entries that got rated best through this process were selected as nominee for the respective category and were further evaluated by the Grand Jury. In the second round, the entries selected in Round 1, were evaluated by Grand Jury which determine the winner of each category.
