  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 28, 2013 - The Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) is pleased to announce the location of Kuretake Co., Ltd., a Japanese manufacturer of specialty stationery products, to the Sacramento Region. The new facility will be the company's first U.S. operation with future plans for additional facilities throughout the country. The ten-year lease is for a 12,000-square-foot site in the Westcore portfolio of properties in Sacramento County.

"Increasing our ties to the global marketplace is the key to a positive economic future for Sacramento County," said Susan Peters, Chair of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. "With our multi-modal transportation infrastructure and close access to West Coast shipping ports, our region is the perfect fit for companies like Kuretake."

The company considered several West Coast locations outside of California as well as the Bay Area and Southern California. Sacramento was ultimately selected based on the availability and affordability of real estate and access to the Pacific Rim.

"There are several reasons why we chose Sacramento for our entree into the United States. First and foremost was its proximity to our company's marketplace both domestically and abroad. That and SACTO's assistance in the process made it difficult to go elsewhere," said Kaoru Osaki, Director for the Kuretake Group.

"We are pleased to welcome Kuretake Co., Ltd. to the Sacramento Region. The company's location here represents a wealth of new opportunities around foreign trade and a step in the right direction for additional foreign direct investment. We look forward to our continued partnership with the company as it grows in the region," said Gary L. Bradus, Chair of SACTO's Board of Directors and Shareholder at Weintraub Tobin.

Established in 1902, Kuretake Co., Ltd.'s products made under the "ZIG" brand in Japan are favored for their utility and high quality and are distributed worldwide to Japan, North and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and Asia.

Kuretake was represented by Jim Esway of the Crossroad Venture Group. The landlord in the transaction, Westcore Properties, was represented by Bryan McKrell along with Jones Lang LaSalle brokers Matt Lofrano and Mark Demetre.

The project enlisted the assistance of SACTO's public and private sector partners, without which the transaction could not have been completed. SACTO would like to especially thank the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and James Leet, a Shareholder in the law firm of Boutin Jones, for their support in the effort.
