  • (1888PressRelease) November 23, 2012 - The power plant is situated in the wet mountainous north of the country in immediate vicinity to other hydroelectric power plants of RWE Innogy. With an installed capacity of 2 megawatts, the plant can generate around 5,300 megawatt-hours of electricity a year to supply around 1,500 homes in a climate-friendly way. The investment volume amounts to 3 million euros.

Hendrik Eden, Head of Asset Management International in the hydropower division of RWE Innogy summed it up: "We are happy to have succeeded in completing the power plant on schedule after only 18 months of construction. This is already the sixth hydroelectric power plant commissioned by RWE Innogy in Portugal.“

The Agilde plant is a high-pressure run-of-river power plant with a head of 200 metres. It comprises a pressure pipe with a length of 660 metres and a power house with a Pelton turbine.

RWE Innogy plans to continue expanding its hydropower capacities in Portugal in the future, too. Construction of another hydroelectric power plant with an installed capacity of 3.6 megawatts is scheduled to start in the region in 2013.
