  • West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) May 07, 2013 - The international home furnishings company Roche Bobois announces the opening of a 6,000-square-foot, free-standing retail showroom at 136 U.S. Highway One, south of Northlake Boulevard in North Palm Beach. The opening follows completion of customization of the space for the representative display of products in its high-end Les Contemporains and Les Nouveaux Classiques furniture collections. Currently, the corporate-owned showroom is Roche Bobois' only Palm Beach County location and its second showroom in Florida, joining Coral Gables which opened in 1997.

Julien Bigan, Roche Bobois general manager for the U.S. South East, said there is a parking lot in front of the building for the use of Roche Bobois customers.

"On behalf of the Council and citizens, I am very happy to welcome Roche Bobois to North Palm Beach," said Village of North Palm Beach Mayor William L. Manuel. "It is most gratifying to have Roche Bobois, an international retailer of premier home furnishings, choose North Palm Beach as the home of its second Florida showroom, and sole location in Palm Beach County. Together, our Village Council, Administration and community leaders have been working to promote business development and advance a business-friendly atmosphere in North Palm Beach. We wish Roche Bobois much success and look forward to it remaining a valued member of our business community for many years to come."

"The Roche Bobois operation is first class all the way, and the transformation of the space has made it one of the most spectacular free-standing buildings along the U.S. Highway One corridor," said IDT Holdings Director of Operations and CFO Bob Bell, landlord for the property now occupied by Roche Bobois. "As a resident and longtime business owner in North Palm, I could not imagine a better addition to our community or a better project to jump start the corridor's rejuvenation."

One of the most notable exterior features of the new showroom is its double
façade made of Alucobond material brought directly from Germany by ThyssenKrupp. "This creates a double-height effect on the front of the building and distinguishes us from the neighboring structures," Bigan pointed out.

Featuring interior design by Roche Bobois in-house architects Jacqueline Hopfer and Nicolas Roche, the custom interiors meet the showroom's specific needs, from exposed black steel on the volume ceilings, to 24" x 24" contemporary grey porcelain tile flooring with minimal grout. There is LED lighting by Delta Light throughout that enables customers and designers to see the true colors of Roche Bobois' rich materials and finishes. Lighting has sensors for energy efficiency, and the illumination from numerous Flof hanging pendants - in contrasting black or white - is subdued by violet covers.

Eye-catching, French-made wallpaper was installed on many of the interior walls in tones of grey and white, with splashes of bright colors including purple, yellow and green. Each backdrop has an aged, distressed appearance and presents a different scene or theme, thus making the showroom's furniture stand out against it. Similar wallpaper, with a heavily textured, aged look, was affixed to dropped ceiling areas to provide consistency within the striking space.

The parking area was also completely renovated with eco-friendly landscaping such as bamboo, which will fill in quickly. "Our eco-friendly selections aren't only on the building's inside. Bamboo and other new trees, shrubs and ground cover also reflect our company's commitment to respect the environment," Bigan noted.

Producing its own exclusive furniture and accessories for the home, the Roche
Bobois Paris brand was born in 1961, resulting from a merger of two French family businesses. The company has become a worldwide symbol of fine European-made furniture, design and distribution. There are more than 250 Roche Bobois retail showrooms in 45 countries throughout the world, the majority of which are corporate owned. Twenty-four of the locations are situated in the U.S.
