Robert Geneid launches Borneo Culture Conservation Foundation's website
Robert Geneid officially unveils the web portal for Borneo Culture Conservation Foundation. The site is a showcase for the unique heritage items of the indigenous people of Borneo.
- (1888PressRelease) May 14, 2013 - Robert Geneid officially launches Borneo Culture Conservation Foundation's inaugural web portal today. The portal can be found at http://www.borneoculture.org. The portal mission is to display and showcase the various heritage items from the indigenous people of Borneo. The objective of the site is to educate the public about the unique culture and the arts and crafts of the tribes of Borneo.
The site will have a catalogue of items that will be updated on a regular basis. Each item will have a short description of the item and its uses, photographs of the item and it will also be categorized by its tribal links, materials used and its function.
Borneo Culture Conservation Foundation hopes that the site will be help generate interests in the culture, arts and crafts of the people of Borneo. The foundation was set up by Robert Geneid and was given the mission to "protect the heritage items of the indigenous people of Borneo so that the rich culture of the past will endure for the benefit of future generations".
Robert Geneid, an entrepreneur who has found success in fields as varied as law and tourism, has been involved with the indigenous people of Sarawak and Borneo for more than 20 years. He has felt a connection to the people and culture of the region. However he was witness to the steady decline in interest especially from the younger generation. He felt that the richness of this culture needed to be kept from being just part of the annals of history.
He hopes that the foundation and the web portal will be able to help boost awareness by showcasing the daily objects, art pieces and the jewellery of the indigenous people of Borneo.
