  • (1888PressRelease) June 29, 2012 - The 170 rooms-property is located near Porticcio; right at the glorious Agosta Beach. Guests enjoy a true paradise combining beautiful landscape, minimalist design, great food and wellness, and personalized services.

“We are delighted to open this resort together with Jean-Marc Ollandini and his group. It further strengthens our successful, contemporary resort portfolio, and underlines the leading position of Radisson Blu as Europe’s largest upper upscale brand”, commented Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor.

The stunning bay of Agosta Beach with the near Sanguinaires islands, red rocks, sparkling turquoise waters, fascinating mountains in the background, and above all blue skies and the Mediterranean sun: The location of the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Ajaccio Bay makes dreams come true. Chic Porticcio is only 5 kilometers away, and also Ajaccio Ferry Port (19 kilometers) and Ajaccio International Airport (15 kilometers) are within easy reach.

All 170 rooms and suites of the First Class-resort feature aquamarine colors and light wood, and offer private furnished terraces with view on the shoreline or the famous maquis of Corsica, a lush vegetation. The elegant rooms come with a size of 28 to 52 square meters (family rooms and rooms for disabled guests are available), and offer Radisson Blu signature services such as business class category with Nespresso coffee machine, and free high speed internet access.

Totally dedicated to beach life, water sports and wellness, the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Ajaccio Bay comprises an outdoor pool with kids pool, and a 900 square meter wellness area including indoor pool, hot tub, gym, sauna, hammam, relaxing area, and a spa with 5 cabins. Treatments use products by the prestigious brand Sothys and by Crena Care that are based on local island plants. Little guests are welcome at the kids club where the programme “Very Important Children” is offered during school holidays with several activities under professional supervision.

Gourmets enjoy the resort’s main restaurant “A Muvra” with a locally inspired menu. What about a delicious sea bass with grapefruit, pork with local honey, a blueberry sorbet or pineapple carpaccio? Two bars complement the offer and spoil with cool cocktails, a relaxed atmosphere and stunning sea views.

For those who are combining leisure and business, the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Ajaccio Bay has 400 square meters of fully flexible meeting facilities for up to 250 delegates. All meeting rooms have daylight and are equipped with state of the art technology. For catered events, a beautiful seafront terrace is also available.

Also part of the hotel are a shop and a tourist office where activities and excursions on the island are arranged – from jet ski and sailing to sightseeing and hiking. Corsica, the island where Napoleon Bonaparte was born, is also called “île de beauté” (island of beauty) – thanks to greenly forested mountain ranges, rich pastures, fragrant maquis scrubland and exceptional vineyards, dotted with charming and historic old towns. Corsica is also renowned for its beautiful blue bays, beguiling scenery and glorious weather. Chose from over 200 beaches and 1,000 kilometers of spectacular coastline!

With a glittering harbor front, designer boutiques and fashionable restaurants, Ajaccio now honors Napoleon with street names, statues and several stellar museums. Don’t miss the Palais Fesch – Musée des Beaux-Arts. This superb museum, established by Napoleon's uncle, reopened in 2010 after extensive renovation works. It houses France's largest collection of Italian paintings outside the Louvre.

    About the group Ollandini:

The group’s history dates back to 1890 when Baptiste Ollandini launched a transfer service for goods. His youngest son Jean joined the group in 1933 – his arrival marks the entry of Ollandini in the world of travel: He opened the first travel agency in Ajaccio, Corsica; and initiated the first regular airline connections from Marseille and Nice to Corsica.

In 1963, Ollandini also entered the rental car business; and in 1966, Jean Ollandini became one of the first AVIS dealers in France. 1982 saw the arrival of Jean-Marc Ollandini who took care of the travel sector before being appointed Managing Director.

In 1990, Ollandini opened a travel agency in Paris, and celebrated the group’s 100th anniversary. In 2010, the company acquired the group Sud Corse Hôtellerie that managed an important touristic complex in Santa Giulia near Porto-Vecchio. In July 2011, Ollandini became majority shareholder of the Belgium travel operator Corsica Travel – which opened options for key synergies to the benefit of both parties. In June 2012 finally, Ollandini opened the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Ajaccio Bay; the most important investment in Corsica’s hotel sector since 30 years.
