  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) April 01, 2016 - Everyone and No One features artwork created from the deepest parts of René Romero Schuler's being. The haunting, yet uplifting, imagery of her figurative pieces reflect the power and vulnerability of her complex feminine nature. As a self-taught artist with a background in interior design, Romero Schuler's exquisite paintings utilize several rich layers of oil paint applied using only a palette knife. Her technique involves harnessing the textural strata of paint, palette knife scratches, and bold colors to create psychic tension between surface and subject. René Romero Schuler's current style is rooted in abstract expressionism with a pop culture sensibility that is uniquely her own.

"In every work I create, I strive to show the imperfection, stress, and underlying beauty of the beings I portray. There are no fine characteristics or clearly defined attributes in these figures. They are 'everyone' and 'no one'. They are stripped to their most essential elements…their most basic form. The meaning is in the 'representation' of the image, not the image itself."

René Romero Schuler was born on November 29, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois. She finished her education and began her career in interiors, eventually launching her own mural and decorative painting business. Since then, she has participated in several major shows throughout the world, with current representation in Paris, France; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Chicago, Illinois and Carmel, California. She extends her passion for art as a board member of the Loyola University Museum of Art by curating exhibits and avidly procuring a personal collection of fine art.

René Romero Schuler shares her artistic talent and passion by teaching at the Illinois Institute of Art and Chicago City Colleges and lecturing at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Her art is on display in public collections in Chicago, including the Prudential Building, the Chanel boutique at Neiman Marcus, Hyatt Hotels and in the permanent archives at the Art Institute of Chicago. René Romero Schuler's work continues to be exhibited domestically and internationally, most recently in Rome and Paris, and at Art Basel (Miami) since 2011.
