    Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Playworld Middle East, the region's only dedicated trade event for toys, games and children's lifestyle products, expects this segment to attract considerable interest from international manufacturers and suppliers at its upcoming event taking place in Dubai next week.

    Figures released by Euromonitor International, official Knowledge Partner for Playworld Middle East reveal that the region's appetite for remote and radio-controlled toys was worth as much as US$130.5 million in 2010, up from US$71.2 million in 2005.

    "A large factor in the increase in demand for remote-controlled toys can be attributed to the flood of innovative products employing new technology," said Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Playworld Middle East. "The Middle East economies with their traditional high-spending on children's toys and games form attractive markets for international toy manufacturers.     Remote and radio-controlled toys are enjoying a fresh growth phase of late after a quiet period when they were second and third choice options after hand-held digital game consoles and iPods. But according to current trends, there has been a push to advance the technology behind what was once the main attraction in every child's toy collection.

    As technology gets smaller, cheaper, and is more easily developed, certain manufacturers have refocused their attention on updating remote controlled toys to cater to an increasingly sophisticated market, utilising innovative devices from the medical, military, and digital fields to gadgets any kid can enjoy.

    A wide range of the latest in remote control toy technology will be on display during Playworld Middle East. The market for hobby products has seen increased demand in recent years by both kids and adults alike who spend big amounts on large scale remote controls.
