  • Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria, OH (1888PressRelease) April 05, 2013 - Remington College-Cleveland Campus is now enrolling students for its new Medical Billing and Coding Diploma Program.

The Remington College Medical Billing and Coding program is designed to prepare students for work as coders in doctor's offices, clinics, hospital clerical departments and other medical or insurance settings. Students can earn a diploma in as little as eight months.1

Medical billing and coding may be a good option for people looking to work in the health care field, but who may prefer to not work directly with patients. The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, as the work involves coding various medical diagnoses and procedures.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from instructors with real-world experience as they cover industry-standard coding systems and rules, as well as some basic medical instruction.

    Courses include:

    • Anatomy and Physiology for Mechanical Structures
    • Anatomy and Physiology for Visceral Structures
    • Introduction to Medical Coding
    • Medical Records Management
    • Computerized Insurance and Billing
    • CPT Coding for Hospital Applications
    • Medical Office Management

The curriculum also includes an externship for an up-close look at the profession.2

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the increasing demand for health care services will continue to create a demand for medical records and health information technicians.3 Employment for the field is expected to increase by 21% from 2010 to 2020; which is faster than the national average.3

Remington College encourages students in the Medical Billing and Coding Diploma Program to take a certification exam, and the cost for the first exam is included in the price of tuition.

Remington College-Cleveland Campus is located at 14445 Broadway Ave. in Cleveland.
