Remington College announces offerings for new Knoxville campus

  • Knoxville, TN (1888PressRelease) June 27, 2019 - Those looking to pursue higher education in Knoxville now have a new option. Non-profit Remington College announced today it would be offering new programs at a campus location there.

    This builds on the variety of online programs Remington College previously offered out of Knoxville and adds to its footprint in Tennessee, which includes campuses in Nashville and Memphis.

    “We’re proud of career training programs we’ve been able to offer at our Tennessee campuses,” said Remington College President Pam Bell. “We’re thrilled to have the chance to serve another student population with the Knoxville Campus and continue our mission to provide career-focused programs to interested students.”

    The first two programs offered at the Knoxville campus will aim to serve a growing employment field. Remington College Knoxville will offer a Medical Assisting 9-Month Diploma and a Medical Office Administration 8-Month Diploma.

    According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare occupations are projected to add more jobs than any other occupational group due to an aging U.S. population—adding 2.4 million new jobs from 2016 to 2026.1

    The Medical Assisting 9-Month Diploma program aims to prepare students for a number of entry-level positions.2 The curriculum covers topics such as clinical procedures, anatomy and physiology and pharmacology and aims to prepare students to take vital signs, file medical records, submit insurance information and more.

    The program can be completed in as few as nine months,3 and students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Diploma in Medical Assisting.

    The Medical Office Administration 8-Month Diploma program also aims to prepare students for a number of entry-level positions,2 such as medical administrative assistant, medical billing specialist, collections clerk, and patient services representative.
    The curriculum covers topics such as medical terminology; basic medical coding applications; law, ethics and medical records; and more. The program can be completed in as few as eight months,3 and students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Diploma in Medical Office Administration.
