  • (1888PressRelease) May 06, 2011 - Rembrandt Hotel & Towers, Rembrandt Hotel was proud to host an unforgettable evening celebrating the noble art of sabrage with the Bangkok chapter of the Confrerie du Sabre d'Or. The event featured many of the famous personalities of Bangkok along with members of the Confrerie as chilled champagne bottles were sabred throughout the evening.

In attendance of this prestigious event was the South African Ambassador H.E Douglas Gibson and Mrs. Pam Gibson, Swiss Ambassador H.E Christine Schraner Burgener, Roger and Thomas Begault from the esteemed Champaign house of Duval Leroy and honored guests from both local and overseas communities for an illustrious evening of food, champagne and great fun at the Rembrandt Hotel.

The Confrerie du Sabre d'Or (Brotherhood of the Golden Sabre) is a prestigious association that promotes the art of sabrage, opening chilled Champaign bottles with a Sabre, along with the enjoyment of Champagne and fine food. The brotherhood was founded in France over 25 years ago and currently boasts 30,000 members with events around the world.

Eric Hallin, General Manager of Rembrandt Hotel & Towers, began the evenings festivities by delivering a welcome speech to all of the honored guests and members of the brotherhood. This was followed by a speech from the Grand Master of the brotherhood, Jean Claude Jalloux, explaining the upcoming induction ceremony. Guests then took to the stage to partake in the 200 year old technique of opening chilled Champagne bottles with a sabre. Pascal Rozée, Master of festivities, kindly assisted in instructing the proper technique to the guests as they underwent their trial before being knighted into the Brotherhood.

The event highlighted the exquisite Champagnes of Duval Leroy paired with a brilliant six courses dinner at the da Vinci Italian restaurant. The dinner was specially prepared by Rembrandt's new Executive Chef, Andrew Mann, and was catered to be paired with all of the evenings exquisite wines and Champagnes selected by Quentin Fougeroux.
