  • (1888PressRelease) May 11, 2013 - (Costa Mesa, CA) - Club Fitness Addiction is hosting an indoor cycling event to raise money for Kaitlyn Dobrow, a local teenager who contracted bacterial meningitis, an ailment that has resulted in the amputation of both arms and legs and has severely compromised her skin. She is currently at the Burn Unit at UCI Medical in Orange County California.

"We had such a good response for the event that we ran out of space," said Sandy Lopez, co-owner of Club Fitness Addiction. "We contacted Relay Fitness Group to see if they could provide a couple extra indoor cycles for the event; they agreed to."

Bacterial meningitis infects approximately 3,000 people in the United States each year, most of them infants, children, college students, and the elderly. The bacterium infects the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, swelling the areas and causing injury.

To treat the aliment which she contracted in February 2013, Kaitlyn has undergone eleven surgeries, including the amputation of both arms and legs, and has several more to come.

According to Kathi Dobrow, Kaitlyn's mother, "Kaitlynn has had an amazingly positive and courageous attitude throughout this illness and is determined to have a happy, fulfilling life, believing that God has an awesome plan for her future. She is my hero."

Club Fitness Addiction will be holding the event on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at their location at 808 Adams Avenue in Huntington Beach, California. The event requires a minimum donation of $20 to reserve a bike. The gym also allows "donation stations" throughout the gym for those who don't want to participate in the indoor cycling classes.

"We're very happy to support Kaitlyn and the efforts of Club Fitness Addiction to raise money for her," stated Marko Vujicic, CEO of Relay Fitness Group. "Her positivity in the face of such adversity is inspiring."

There is also a fundraiser being held at www.GiveForward.com that has raised $73,000 of the $100,000 goal as of May 10, 2013. To find out more about the event at Club Fitness Addiction, visit www.ClubFitnessAddiction.com.
