The award is the first of its kind and was presented by John O. Vannatta, Chairman of the American Truck Historical Society on Friday, November 7th at this year's National Association of Small Trucking Companies (NASTC) conference in Nashville, TN.

Additional consideration is also given to truck manufacturers and mechanics as well as other trucking related vendors such as suppliers, insurance companies, publications and associations. All applicants must obtain letters of recommendation from credible vendor partners such as banks or insurance companies associated with the applicant. The awards committee is comprised of the American Truck Historical Society chairman and a minimum of two members appointed by the American Truck Historical Society president, assuring that all applicants are voted on by their peers in the industry.
