  • (1888PressRelease) April 18, 2011 - Upcoming projects throughout the GCC and wider Middle East region will ensure a sustained demand in shrubs, landscaping, irrigation, fertilisers, swimming pools and other products and services for the outdoor living industries. In 2009, it was estimated that the approximate value in direct trade for these sec-tors was US$ 95.4 mn in Dubai alone*.

The emerging economies of the GCC region represent great opportunities. Qatar has one of the world's fastest growing economies with an IMF (International Monetary Fund) prediction that it will grow 18.6 per cent this year. It is predicted that over US$85 bn will be spent on infrastructure upgrades in the coming years.

Elsewhere in the region, Saudi Arabia has a US$ 67 bn plan to build 500,000 houses. This added to a fur-ther US$ 38 bn investment, brings the overall investment in the Kingdom's infrastructure to US$ 105 bn. These ongoing
substantial developments throughout the region will ensure a sustained demand in the garden, landscaping and outdoor living industries and is sure to attract new players to the region.

Mr. Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Garden+Landscaping Middle East, said: "Dubai offers easy access to a regional marketplace of vast potential. The construction industry here continues to hold much promise with announcements for new projects, developments and in-vestments taking place regularly."

He added: "These investments are a great boost to the economies of the region, generating demand in many areas. The garden and landscaping industries are no different and will certainly reap benefit from the construction industry at large throughout the region."

In addition, Ms. Mehtap Kenar Gürsoy, Senior Show Manager, Garden+Landscaping Middle East, com-mented: "Take the example of 500,000 houses for development in Saudi Arabia - imagine the number of shrubs, swimming pools, garden features and other landscaping products and services that will be required to execute such a project. And with the infrastructure developments in Doha, one of the major aims will be to ensure the aesthetic value of the city, again opening vast opportunities for this industry."

Garden+Landscaping Middle East will be co-located with Hardware+Tools Middle East as they enjoy shared
synergies in terms of both product and visitor profiles. The trade exhibitions will take place at the Dubai
International Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 10th to 12th.

Garden+Landscaping Middle East will display a comprehensive range of garden machinery, tools, furniture, water features, pond accessories and fertilisers right through to swimming pools, landscaping tools, archi-tectural landscaping and irrigation systems.
