  • (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2010 - Radisphere National Radiology Group, a leading, national full-service radiology interpretations provider has signed agreements to provide Berwick Hospital Center of Berwick, PA and Lock Haven Hospital of Lock Haven, PA with a combination of on-site and remote interpretation services as well as full night-time radiology coverage, all with final interpretations. The contracts became effective May 20, 2010 and will begin deployment within 45 days. They come on the heels of services already being provided by Radisphere to a third CHS Facility in the area - Sunbury Hospital in Sunbury, PA since November 2009.

Cindy Segar-Miller, CEO of Lock Haven Hospital stated "as we continually improve the care we provide to our community, we see many patients whose treatment would be significantly enhanced by a more specialized diagnostic resource. Radisphere's model of remotely available specialists along with on-site Radiology staff was able to be customized to meet our community and patients' needs."

Ron Beer, CEO of Berwick Hospital Center acknowledged its similar situation. "Our geographic location has created a challenge when it comes to attracting the focused attention of a radiology practice. So in some respects we are an underserved area for radiology expertise," stated Beer. "Radisphere's entire philosophy is to give their hospital clients the benefits of sub-specialty radiology no matter where in the country they happen to be."

Dr. Frank Seidelmann, co-founder of Radisphere, was intimately involved in the initial meetings with both new sites as well as the go-live at Sunbury Hospital. "What I saw at all these institutions was senior hospital administration striving to serve their medical staff's imaging needs with limited options available to them. In my experience as section director of an academic radiology department as well as running a very large radiology group in the Midwest, the current model of disparate local radiology practices does not meet the needs of their hospital clients and frankly, they don't foster job satisfaction from the Radiologists themselves. Radisphere offers a wonderful balance of serving clients and medical staff while letting Radiologists focus on providing the absolute best care on every study they read."

Jeff Hunt, CEO at Sunbury concurs. "The Radisphere concept enabled me to do things in radiology at a level of quality I could only have considered if I were five times larger in size. The patients who come through our doors don't want to compromise on any aspect of their care and, with radiology, I have the confidence my organization now delivers on that expectation and was able to fully recommend Radisphere to each of my colleagues one hour away."

Community Health Systems, Inc. is one of the leading operators of general acute care hospitals.
