Qatar Public Works Authority and IQPC launch the ITS and Road Safety Forum Qatar

  • (1888PressRelease) August 24, 2012 - Qatar Public Works Authority, Ashghal, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the National Traffic Safety Committee, have partnered with IQPC in order to deliver an international conference dedicated to discussing developments in Intelligent Transport Systems and best practice road safety initiatives. The ITS and Road Safety Forum Qatar will take place from 2 - 4 October 2012 at the Renaissance Doha City Center Hotel in Qatar, as part of Ashghal's on-going strategy to increase awareness of road safety and improve traffic management.

    This international forum and exhibition will be dedicated to showcasing state-of-the-art technology and best practice road safety initiatives. Among the higlights is the participation of Williams Advanced Engineering, a division of Williams F1 with a base at Qatar's Science and Technology Park that will use the forum to showcase its road safety simulator for the first time. This has been locally designed and built and will help train and certify regular and commercial drivers in order to improve road safety and fuel efficiency in Qatar.

    The conference program will bring together regional and international experts from Government Municipalities, Transport Authorities, Clients and Advisory Bodies, Associations and Universities, Main Consultants, Architects and Solution Providers. Among the featured key speakers are: His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Alan Bristow, Director Traffic Operations at Transport for London (TfL), and Professor Martin Mönnighoff, Senior Officer at the German Police and Lecturer at the German Police University.

    The forum will serve as an important platform for discussing the latest developments, business opportunities and technical challenges related to upcoming tenders and projects with the ITS and road safety sector.
