PX3 Paris Photography Prize Curatorial Challenge Will Travel After Successful Lunch In Paris

  • (1888PressRelease) July 25, 2014 - Paris - The PX3 Curatorial challenge exhibition, after a successful screening in Arles, during Les Rencontres d'Arles (Arles Photo Festival.) and a week long exhibition at Espace Beaurepaire, in Paris with hundreds of visitors, will travel to Munich, Bangkok, Los Angels, New York and Chiang mai.  

    Px3 announced the first Px3 Curators Challenge as part of the 8th Annual Px3 Prix de la Photography Competition. The Curators Challenge commenced on June 15th, 2014 after the closing deadline for entries. Two curators, Daphné Anglès and W.M. Hunt had selected each 20 images form this years submissions for a traveling exhibition.

    The Photographers and the public at large is voting on their selection- and the curator with most votes will win a cash prize. The Curators Challenge aims to highlight the importance of curation in the publishing and photography world and hopes to create a dialogue with photographers and photography viewers alike about the vision of curators. 

    Daphné Anglès is a curator at the Galerie Dupon Paris and graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, Daphné is the current Paris-based assignments editor for the New York Times and Secretary of the World Press Photo Jury. She is also an active jury member for the ICRC Humanitarian Visa d'or Award, Canon Female Photojournalist Award, Scanpix Stora Fotorpis, Bayeux - Calvados War Correspondent Award, Prix Webdocumentaire France 24, amongst others.

    W.M. (Bill) Hunt is an established collector and consultant based in New York. He is a founding partner of photography gallery Hasted Hunt (now Hasted Kraeutler) and a former director of photography at Ricco/Maresca Gallery. He has been collecting photography for over 35 years and is furthermore a professor at the School of Visual Arts. Bill is also on the Board of Directors of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund and the Center for Photography, New York as well as a recipient of their Vision Award in 2009.
