  • (1888PressRelease) February 06, 2014 - The 224 page OGN tells the story of 'Curiosity' Hamilton, a secret agent of the future who has been tasked with finding out why loyal government agents are suddenly turning traitor and committing acts of sabotage. What he finds are loyal rebels, traitorous friends, brainwashing bacteria, robot armies and a plan to conquer the galaxy that may be the only hope of saving it.

"I like to describe it, if I have to do so quickly, as James Bond and Flash Gordon mixed together," writer Joshua Starnes said of the story. "It deals with deception and ethical grey zones and doublethink common to the thriller, but in a pulp sci-fi landscape, taking elements of both and mixing them together in a post-modern blender."

Starnes conceived of the idea in the mid-2000s and, after beginning to actively work on it enlisted the aide of Federico Zumel ("The Victorian") to provide the art for the book. With the first two issues completed and pencil work done for the entirety of the novel, Purple Fly began looking towards crowdsourcing to speed up the rest of production and get the book inked and colored.

The Curiosity Kickstarter Campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1085751974/curiosty) is aimed at raising $7,000 to cover the costs of the rest of production for the book, as well as the production of award gifts.

When he's not writing comic books, Joshua Starnes is a film critic for Comingsoon.net and an analyst for Reuters. Previously he worked for Lone Star VR Systems on the aborted RIFTs MMORPG and worked on the plot for "Drone" from Red 5 Comics.

Federico Zumel is the artist of every page of Curiosity as well as a number of well-regarded books in his native Argentina. In the US his work has graced the pages of Penny Farthings "The Victorian" and "Extracurricular Activities" for Zuda Comics.
