  • (1888PressRelease) July 19, 2015 - The dream encompasses a major agenda for investors to invest in Punjab and for farmers to become entrepreneurs because they call sell extra energy so generated at assured rates to Punjab State Power Corporation and supplement their incomes.

    The Green Revolution changed the face of agriculture and now it is the turn of Green Power Revolution to catapult power scenario because solar power is both clean power and green power. One unit of thermal or coal power emits about 825 grams of carbon dioxide. However, in case of solar power, no carbon dioxide is emitted. This is thus a Green Power Revolution that Punjab is heading towards.

    Under the scheme 'Land on lease', more than 3500 acres have been offered to set up the solar power projects by the farmers to investors. It happened within two months of the induction of the scheme. Majithia added that solar energy is the only source present in abundance, which is on average around 300 sunny days per year. The officials from PEDA (Punjab Energy Development Agency) tell about the manifold increase in the solar power generation in the state in just two years.

    The Solar Power Summit-2015 targets to bring prospective entrepreneurs, investors and other stake holders on a common platform. With Punjab Government's pro-active approach, the Solar Power summit-2015 aims to make Solar power as a new revolution. The future belongs to Solar Power and Punjab intends taking giant strides with this Summit.
