  • (1888PressRelease) December 31, 2016 - Through their newly expanded mission - To preserve the integrity of families by providing age appropriate assistance, helping all people reach their full potential for health and well-being - Program Reach hopes to help stabilize and strengthen families.

The genesis of mission expansion began nearly a year ago while analyzing the impact family pressures have on the youth Program Reach serves through their risk-avoidance programs. "Clearly when adult children are torn between caring for their parents and caring for their children we destabilize the family" said Dr. Nanci Coppola, Program Reach's CEO. "As an organization that has always prided itself on being "pro-family", I think that our expanded mission will allow us to make greater contributions in the communities we serve."

Program Reach will be introducing the AVAIL Group in the spring of 2017. AVAIL (A Viable Asset In Living) will focus on helping families meet the needs of loved ones who are struggling with disability, chronic illness, or the aging process.

Since 2001 Program Reach, through the Healthy Respect Program, has:
    • Provided access to youth development programs for at-risk-youth and their parents,
    • Enabled the youth we have served to acquire the cognitive, social and emotional skills and abilities required to navigate life,
    • Enabled parents to acquire the skills necessary to assist their children in making healthy life choices
    • Enjoyed demonstrated success in helping families put their children on a path to physical, emotional, and academic success.
With the addition of AVAIL Program Reach will:
    • Provide access to families related to handicap accessibility, activities of daily living, meal and grocery delivery, medical transportation and more…
    • Enable family members to avail themselves of all private and public programs and services that encourage independent community living in a safe and comforting environment,
    • Allow families to enjoy their daily life while knowing their loved ones are cared for.

Through a process of self-examination the relationship between the two programs became apparent and today's announcement of the mission expansion is intended to strengthen each program's impact on their respective communities and create a bridge for collaboration.

"Having these complementary programs will reinforce the heart behind Program Reach," said Dr. Coppola. "Creating opportunities for interactions between a variety of change-makers in the communities we serve is how we will address the most pressing needs of our clientele."

"Our Board believes that this new initiative, which compliments the Healthy Respect Program in working to ensure the integrity of families, will alleviate some of the pressures that families feel when confronted with a family member who is cognitively or medically compromised" said George Morrissey, Chairman of the Board of Program Reach. "Our goal has always been to enable families to achieve the conditions that will help them to guide their children in making healthy choices so that they can thrive."
