- (1888PressRelease) June 21, 2012 - Pro-Lab Diagnostics has announced the UK launch of the Portrait Analyser, a novel, low cost sampletoresult molecular diagnostics solution developed by Great Basin Corporation. Initially approved for the diagnosis of C. difficile, this easy-to-use, bench-top instrument provides rapid and cost-effective results without the need for extensive sample preparation and labour intensive pipetting, allowing detection of up to 64 distinct targets in a single assay.
The Portrait Analyser has been designed to offer rapid and accurate detection of infectious diseases, based on a proprietary helicase-dependent isothermal amplification technology and a colorimetric detection system. Thanks to its integrated disposable cartridge system, the instrument provides sample-to-result analysis with virtually no manual input, providing a straightforward 'yes/no' result in under an hour, depending on the target.
Distributed exclusively by Pro-Lab Diagnostics in the UK, this cost-effective solution offers microbiology laboratories an effective mechanism for the rapid detection of infectious diseases, streamlining laboratory workflows and accelerating the clinical decision-making process for improved patient outcomes.
