About The Swamp Music Album:
"The third release on Darkfyre Records brings back the long out-of-stock original 2012 studio recording of Harlem’s longest running big band, The Shrine Big Band, performing monthly at The Shrine since 2009. This album crackles with the energy of the approaching Hurricane Sandy which arrived a few hours after the session wrapped, and is according to The New York City Jazz Record, “a dynamic and pleasing blast to the ear”. The Shrine Big Band is led by drummer Jon Panikkar and pianist Eric Plaks and conducted by music director bass trombonist James Rogers.

The Shrine Big Band, founded by Eric Plaks and Jon Panikkar in 2010, is a 15-piece big band with a 12 year residency at The Shrine World Music Venue in Harlem, NYC. Featuring New York City’s top award winning musicians, composers, and arrangers in an improvised soundscape conducted by James Rogers.
