  • Rochester, NY (1888PressRelease) May 14, 2011 - Some children never get the chance to start a garden or plant a seed. Well, that's all changing, now that Portable Gardens builds and sells the Children's Garden. To get the new product into the field, two Children's Gardens were built and donated to worthy sites.

The first Garden went into a Child Care Center on 28 October 2009 catering to 3, 4, and 5 year olds. The 60 children that participated were thrilled at the opportunity. Each school day after the planting, they would run into the building to see how the seeds and eventually the plants were coming along. And, after 8 weeks, they had flowering plants to bring home to their parents. What a grand time was had by all.

The second Children's Garden was placed on 28 March 2011 within an elementary school and was received by two classes of 1st graders. There, 50 children, ages 6-7 years, enjoyed their first planting workshop with Grandpa Wes (Kleppe) and are about to reward their parents with flowering plants that they grew for the last 8 weeks. The 1st graders had such a great experience that they sent Grandpa Wes individual "Thank You Cards" with hand drawn pictures and wonderful greetings. That was reward enough for Grandpa Wes who will treasure those cards.

We hope that many more children can get to enjoy a Children's Garden.
