  • (1888PressRelease) August 27, 2013 - Los Angeles, CA - Peace Mobs, Peace Feasts and other peaceful gatherings, inspired by PeaceNow.co, will be forming throughout the world, in honor of the United Nations' International Day of Peace, on September 21. PeaceNow.co (www.peacenow.co) is a new organization that was formed to bring people around the world together to live and communicate peacefully, not just on September 21, but every day.

"This is a time when people everywhere can make a difference. With the power of the Internet and social media, we can come together more easily than we ever could and quickly create real change," says PeaceNow Founder Scotty Bruer, a successful former executive in the technology industry and author of "The Best 10 Years of Your Life, but Let's Plan on 20!"

"The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session, which was held annually on the third Tuesday of September. The first Peace Day was observed in September 1982," according to information provided on www.un.org.

PeaceNow has provided ideas and information for creating Peace Mobs, Peace Feasts, Peace Mural Parties, and other activities on the organization's website. People can videotape the peace gatherings they hold on September 21 and enter their videos into the PeaceNow Video Contest. One winner will be selected by the PeaceNow committee and one winner will be selected by popular vote. The videos of both winners will be featured on the Community page of the PeaceNow website for one month and on the PeaceNow Facebook page and other social media platforms. Interviews with the creators of both winning videos will be featured on the PeaceNow blog and Facebook page, and a press release announcing the winners will be distributed in the U.S. and Canada. "International Day of Peace 2013 is the recognition of our universal desire for peace. Peace Day 2014 can be a celebration of 1 billion Peace Ambassadors," says Bruer. "Peace Day 2015 can be for eons to come, when every heart, every country, every hand is united by peace. Our vision is our reality, if you see it too and share PeaceNow."

The primary goal of PeaceNow is to get 1 billion people to sign the PeaceNow Petition, declaring that "we want peace now." To sign the petition, download the PeaceNow Activities, learn about the PeaceNow Video Contest and more, visit www.peacenow.com.
