(1888PressRelease) August 19, 2008 - Zansam, a music group in Bangalore, today announced their forthcoming Hindi film music concert, “Pancham…a musical tribute”, in aid of SOCARE IND, an organization working for the welfare of children of convicts. The concert will be an R.D. Burman special, featuring foot-tapping music composed by PanchamDa. The three-hour concert will be held at the Good Shepherd Auditorium in Bangalore, on Saturday, 20 September 2008, from 6 pm to 9 pm, and promises to be one of the city’s biggest non-celebrity concerts.

“We are looking to associates with individuals and corporate who want to support music with a cause. We would welcome participation, sponsorship and support from those who would like to make a difference to the lives of these children through music”, said a Zansam member.

Society’s Care for Indigent (SOCARE IND) is a social organization set up for supporting children of life convicts. Formed in 1999, by Mr Venkataraghavachari Mani, it houses over 100 such underprivileged children today.

These children receiving support are afflicted with social backwardness and economic deprivation. Either parent is a prisoner of crimes. Very often it is one parent that has murdered the other, with the kids as blood splattered witnesses to the crime. SOCARE IND provides them with psychiatric treatment, food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, education and a hope to make a life of their own—away from the stigma of prison or criminal parents. SOCARE IND also maintains a retiring room for life convicts (on parole) and their families.

These children are the innocent victims of crimes committed by their own parents. Often too young to comprehend the seriousness of the crime, but aware that their parents have done something “bad”, they fail to understand why they are outcasts in the society.

The goal of SOCARE IND if to impart training to render them fit to take up jobs/ develop entrepreneurship for self employment, enough o support themselves and their families. And the bigger goal is to prepare the children to shoulder responsibilities as they grow into responsible citizens doing their duties as citizens. Live their dreams like any other child, to become a police officer or an engineer, and a good human being.

Zansam’s forthcoming concert will be in aid of SOCARE IND. Zansam is a music group formed by students and working professionals of Bangalore. The group composes original music and conducts musical concerts in support of social and children’s causes.

Zansam intends to donate 50% of all surplus funds generated by the concert towards the children of SOCARE IND. “Children’s causes have always been close to the hearts of all of us at Zansam. When we met SOCARE IND, we wanted to get involved. As middle-class working professionals, we couldn’t do much financially on a sustained basis, so we decided to leverage our music to make a difference” said a Zansam member.
