  • (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2016 - West Palm Beach- Join us in Honoring Our Heroes at the 9th Annual Veterans Day Parade on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. in downtown West Palm Beach on Clematis Street. The entire community is encouraged to come out and show their support of our men and women who have given and continue to give their all to insure the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of the United States of America!

    The Veterans Day Parade, produced each year by the Palm Beach County Veterans Committee, begins at 2 p.m. and travels from west to east on Clematis ending at Flagler Drive. Expect veteran's organizations and individuals, marching bands, JROTCs, Cub Scouts, car and motorcycle clubs, cheerleaders and more.

    The parade will be led by at least 20 Korean War Veterans serving as the 2016 Grand Marshals including Private First Class Bernard Ruthberg who survived typhoon like weather sailing over the Pacific to Korea, driving over a bomb in the road and a flight to Japan, from which he was bumped, that crashed with no survivors. Ruthberg received the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Battle Star, Korean Service Badge, UN Korean Badge, Korean Defense Badge and Korean President Unit War Badge. He currently lives in Boynton Beach with his pen-pal sweetheart who became his wife after the war and they have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.

    The mission of the Palm Beach County Veterans Committee, Inc., is to proudly honor through the Memorial Day Ceremony and the Veterans Day Parade our past, present, and future veterans in this our Country the United States of America.

    The Palm Beach County Veterans Committee is comprised of volunteers from local veterans' organizations and community activists. They receive no grants or funds from any government agency and rely entirely on private donations. The Committee was established as a DBA by the Friends of Veterans, Inc. (FOV). The FOV is a Florida not-for-profit corporation, established in 1993, that is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. FOV is licensed to receive charitable contributions by the State of Florida.
