  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 28, 2012 - Caroline Örnstedt paints acrylic on canvas or frameless wooden tablets. Her lively, multitudinous compositions in primary hues feature passionate strokes, luscious marks and the intriguing abstractions of unconscious locomotion. Adopting a brushless approach, Örnstedt pushes the paint around by palette knife, leaving a residue that is so thick and multi-dimensional that it verges on topographic. A self-taught artist governed by a freely spontaneous nature, the defining feature of her oeuvre is a micro figure, what the artist terms a 'soul' figment, which recurs in each individual work. Adorning her restless and at times theatrical application of paint to canvas with ethereal mists of glitter, Örnstedt's intuitive abstractions achieve a visceral impact with provocative and lingering appeal.

Caroline Örnstedt, an artist of Swedish heritage, grew up in the small village of Jälluntofta where she was born. She currently lives and works nearby in Reftele, Sweden.

    About the Exhibition

The days may be getting shorter, but you'll forget all dark thoughts when you see Robert Oelman's astounding photography in his solo exhibition entitled Treasures of the Amazon Rainforest. Robert Oelman lives and works in exotic locations to capture insects, fauna, flora and panoramas whose existence and beauty is unseen and unsuspected by the majority of the world. The result is images that introduce wholly new creatures, broadening scientific knowledge, recording them for posterity, and possessing a mysterious, marvelous beauty. There are two excellent collective exhibitions on at the same time.

Intriguing, challenging and magical, the works in Unbound Perspectives blend personal vision with individual experience to create a paradoxically universal appeal. Touching on matters of the deepest emotional and practical importance, this is art which refuses to acknowledge the existence of any barriers or boundaries other than those chosen and defined by the artists. In The Persistence of Form, these talented artists turn the fruits of their meticulous observations of life and its complexities into wonderful, stirring works that seem to initiate the viewer into the miraculous secrets of the world.

Clever, creative and compelling, these artworks transform what we know and expect into something fresh and transcendent. The exhibitions open on November 27, 2012 and continue until December 18, 2012. The opening reception will take place on the evening of Thursday November 29, 2012, and art enthusiasts are invited to attend, admire and enjoy.
