    Mr. Prakash Surana was born in the eminent family of Surana Jewellers who have been known since long for their expertise in artistic trade. Born in 1939, since his early childhood was fascinated by music. The Suranas have always been connoisseurs of fine art and have patronized India's cultural diversity through variety of events especially music concerts. Late Rajmalji Surana was a great music lover who would never miss listening to the Radio Sangeet Samelens of all India radio featuring Pt. Narayan Rao Vyas, Pt. Omkar Nath Thakur, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Bismillah Khan, Pt. Kumar Gandharv, Vinayak Rao Patvardhan etc. No occasion in the family would be completed without a music concert. His elite taste and passion for music is shared by one and all in the family.

    Shruti Mandal : The Origin and Evolution
    The Surana family joined hands with their founder secretary Kaushal Bhargava in the year 1964, to set up Shruti Mandal. This cultural society was created with the intention of promoting classical music and dance in Jaipur. What started as a plain enthusiastic approach, gained a cultural prominence as under Prakash Chand Surana and his able son Chandra Surana, Shruti Mandal emerged as one of the honorary organizations hosting great musical concerts.

    To commemorate the death anniversary of Rajmalji Surana, every year Shruti Mandal organises an annual musical festival "Surana Samriti Samaroh" from January 4th to 6th. Music Maestros like Pt. Ravi Shankar, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Amzad Ali Khan, M. S. Subbalakshmi, Pt.
