  • Chattanooga, TN-GA (1888PressRelease) February 21, 2014 - From February 28th through March 2nd Hollywood film composers Alan Silvestri and George S. Clinton will join together for a weekend of seminars, screenings, and concerts at The Chattanooga International Film Music Festival. On March 2nd the classic Tivoli Theatre will host the Hooray for Hollywood concert which will feature Clinton's own Austin Powers suite, Silvestri's Back to the Future suite, and other popular film music titles. Special guests include Sundance Film Music Program director, Peter Golub and BMI's Head of Film and TV Music Relations, Doreen Ringer Ross.

    George S. Clinton is the artistic director of the festival, and also a native Chattanoogan. He is passionate about inspiring young composers and is currently the Chair of the Film Scoring Department at the Berklee College of Music. Clinton's credentials include two Cheech and Chong titles, the cult-hit fighter game Mortal Kombat, and the Emmy-winning title Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. As a staff writer for Warner Brothers Music, Clinton's songs were recorded by Michael Jackson, Joe Cocker and Smokey Robinson.

    Alan Silvestri is this year's honoree at the festival, and has scored over 80 films, including Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Avengers, Forrest Gump, Carl Sagan's upcoming show Cosmos - A Spacetime Odyssey, and this year's Oscar nominated film, The Croods.

    Registration for the Chattanooga International Film Music Festival is open and concludes on the 14th of February. The cost for the full Festival is $195.
