  • (1888PressRelease) November 05, 2025 - OPULIS, a landmark collector’s edition coffee table book endorsed by Microsoft and the Microsoft Alumni Network, celebrates 50 women tech leaders who helped shape Microsoft’s evolution over the decades into the AI era — and became an Amazon #1 Bestseller within hours of its global launch.

OPULIS: Women Powering Microsoft’s Trillion-Dollar Shift is an endeavor by Women in Cloud, a global network of women techies across 120 countries. Each featured leader was selected for her ability to drive transformation, expand opportunity, and influence the next wave of technological progress. The proceeds from book sales will fund Microsoft AI Certification Scholarships for women, helping underrepresented talent gain access to AI-driven career opportunities. OPULIS has been built on the FIRE Framework (Focus, Impact, Responsibility, Engagement) and the Philosophy of Significance.

OPULIS is endorsed by Microsoft and the Microsoft Alumni Network. The book chronicles leadership stories that have defined inclusive innovation at one of the world’s most influential technology companies. The proceeds from book sales directly fund Microsoft AI Certification Scholarships, empowering women and underrepresented talent to gain access to AI-driven career opportunities.

The first wave of OPULIS-funded AI scholarships was given to Priya Thiyagarajah, Miriam Estillore, Boipelo Songo, Afrida Islam, Maria Lucia Souza, Onyinyechi Norman-Roberts, Christine Muhia, Portia Jefferson, Kalyani Burri, and Sara Abdelghany. These ten scholars mark the beginning of a global movement that has already unlocked $1 million in AI Certifications with a goal to ignite a thousand AI Careers by 2030.

They were carefully selected after a thorough process that saw more than 800 scholarship applications from 20+ countries, with the participating nations being Brazil, the US, Nigeria, India, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Kenya, and Egypt. These scholars represent the future of inclusive innovation in the AI economy.

Commenting on the success, Chaitra Vedullapalli, Executive Producer of OPULIS and President of Women in Cloud, said: “We are delighted to see that the book has become a bestseller on Amazon within hours of its global launch. OPULIS is just not a book, but it is a compilation of a slice of history and a tribute to Microsoft’s women who democratized access and transformed the lives of billions. These are the architects of access and the catalysts for an inclusive AI future.”

The book, which is a part of the #empowHER50 campaign by Women in Cloud, was launched last month during Microsoft’s 50th anniversary. OPULIS serves both a historical record and a forward-looking initiative aimed at democratizing access to cloud and AI technologies for women across the globe. The book will also become a part of the Redmond-headquartered IT giant’s history as it now becomes a permanent part of the Microsoft Archives and Museum.
