  • (1888PressRelease) March 29, 2011 - Wilmington, North Carolina - Music is life and finding Onward, Soldiers' music just makes life sweeter. Listeners enjoy a brand of Folk/Indie/Americana that they can truly wrap their minds around. Onward, Soldiers has made it clear that their first release "Ghosts in this town," is a mission statement; a shape of things to come.

Comprised of musicians between the ages of 25 and 45, their range of experience represents a deep pool of musical influences.
Sean Thomas Gerard is the singer-songwriter of the band. His songs are ageless and heartbreakingly poetic. The band members Jarett Michael(bass, vocals), Lincoln Morris (electric guitar) and Kevin Rhodes (drums, keyboards, vocals), combine to give the words flight.

Soulfully crafted, "Ghosts In This Town" unleashes a positive vibe that gives the impression this band genuinely loves playing music together. A clear sound complete with acoustic and electric guitars, piano and organ, a steadfast rhythm section, and razor sharp vocals. The end result is an enigmatic and serene album with plenty of twists and turns for the ears as well as the mind. Vocal harmonies and catchy strumming patterns elevate listeners and provide a message of hope and a story of leaving problems behind.

In addition to their hopeful and inspiring music, Onward, Soldiers brings their positivity into action through various charities and fundraising events. Believing that their music can do more than just entertain, the band is involved on a local and national level.

Teamed with their label Winoca Records they help throw an annual "take the lake music festival", that celebrates socially and environmentlally conscious groups working for community in the Wilmington NC area. This past year they were happy to contribute a song to 'gasoline Rainbows", (Vagrant Records) a compliation to benfit victims of the gulf oil spill, and are currently involved in a benefit concert to support the Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis which raises funds for the schools international student program.

Quickly on the rise, Onward, Soldiers is to be featured on the famed Sun Studios, "Sun Sessions" PBS television program. The band added a song placement on "one Tree Hill" (Warner Brothers)this past season.
The guys are everpresent throughout North Caroina college and AAA radio including WNCW 88.7 FM in spindale NC., and are receiving radio play in numberous markets around the country as well as overseas. The group will be showing up at various music festivals including SXSW. They are scheduling a stops at Day Trotter, and hope to showcase at the southern NACA conference in the fall of 2011.

Onward, Soldiers plans continuous touring througout the south this year and (as) they prepare for the release of their sophomore album, "monsters" later this year.
