  • (1888PressRelease) July 07, 2007 - Recent trends in online consumer behaviour and buying patterns have brought some people to believe that consumers simply have to much choice when it comes to goods online and are struggling to decide what to buy.

www.TheRandomShop.co.uk the online gift shop which supplies a large selection of Humorous, Novelty and funky gifts and delivers worldwide, has noticed what could be a change in consumer purchasing behaviour.

The Random shop which is based in Norwich in the United Kingdom and was started in 2006 has seen a steep increase in purchases of random gifts by customers using its website.

Around six months ago The Random Shop introduced a number of ‘random items’ for their customers to purchase. This meant that the customers would have absolutely no idea what they would receive upon purchase of the items.

Six months along the line and one particular item, The £5 Random Goodie Pack is currently the Third most popular item behind The Amazing Chinese Finger Trap and the Cow fridge Stickers.

Rory Bells the Manager of The Random Shop said “We never thought so many people would buy something without wanting to know what they would receive”.

Mr Bells then went on to explain, “We thought there was a good chance that consumers would react in a psycho autonomous fashion when being presented with the option to not actually have an option, and to receive whatever The Random Shop would decide to give them for their £5”.

Other popular items are The £1 Wonder, The Random Novel, and The Random DVD.

Al l this strange behaviour has led to some business analysts to suggest we are seeing what could be a shift in the traditional consumer purchasing behaviour?

Could it be because most people have unlimited shopping options at the touch of their finger tips consumers are choosing to reject choice in order to receive something totally random?

There are so many things being marketed to people every second of every day and through more and more mediums, it is totally understandable that people are finding it difficult to actually decide what they want to purchase online.

One thing is for sure though, The Random Shop will certainly being hoping for this consumer trend to continue.
