  • (1888PressRelease) November 29, 2012 - Business improvement specialists, Oliver Wight, will be presenting at the S-Council annual supply chain conference in Shanghai on 6-7 December 2012. Industry expert and Oliver Wight Asia Pacific Partner, Peter Metcalfe, will speak on how Integrated Business Planning (advanced S&OP) can improve forecasting.

The S-Council Annual Congress is a popular platform for supply chain professionals across a wide range of industries to offer information and share knowledge. Now in its second year, one of the key issues to be covered at the two-day event is catering for demand.

"One of the biggest challenges facing supply chain executives today is the need to respond to ever-increasing levels of volatility in demand," says Metcalfe. "But it is not the be-all-and-end-all. People commonly believe 'if we can get better at forecasting all of our problems will be solved', but blaming your problems on an inaccurate forecast doesn't resolve the issue."

In his presentation, 'Moving on from Forecasting', Metcalfe will draw on his 28 years experience helping organisations across the world to improve their planning processes. He will explain how Integrated Business Planning is not only an effective process for improving forecasting, but also helps to align all company plans, providing greater control over demand, production and supply chain activities.

"IBP is a common sense process for integrating business processes and aligning people behind the business plan so it can be executed in a cohesive and effective manner. That means it can help increase revenues, improve profitability and reduce inventory. In fact, Oliver Wight clients report profitability gains of 15 per cent or more as a result of IBP," Metcalfe concludes.
