  • (1888PressRelease) February 14, 2012 - It's been 2 years since the Alkaline Foods Blog went online, but only now have the founders decided to create an official launch and take the Alkaline Foods Community to the world. With a brand-new Facebook Page, and upcoming YouTube channel and Twitter account, the Alkaline Foods Blog is ready to meet the world.

"We wanted to wait for an official launch until we had a community behind the blog" says one of the founders. "Discovering the health benefits of such as lifestyle also comes with a lot of research, learning about the effects foods have on our bodies, trying out recipes and swapping ideas. That's why we love contributing to the blog."

The movement around the alkaline diet, also called acid alkaline diet, is based on the assumption that the body works better when it has a slightly alkaline level. The results claim anything from increased energy, healthier looking skin and hair, to better organ function and cell renewal. Celebrity proponents of an alkaline lifestyle include Dr Robert Young and famous life coach Tony Robbins.

However, critics of the alkaline diet ascertain there to be no scientific evidence of the health benefits promised. In fact, the claims of the diet are often described as "non-factual" and are not accepted by the mainstream scientific community.

In addition, Dr Robert Young, one of the main proponents of the alkaline lifestyle, came under investigation for health fraud in 2005, which did not help those wanting to promote a healthy, alkaline lifestyle.

"For us it is not about promising the world or healing cancer, or anything like that" says one author of the blog. "Personally, I follow certain nutritional guidelines, which help me to feel good. I know for myself that I have more energy and I feel healthier."

"Of course everyone who follows a certain diet or nutritional lifestyle should do their own research and determine what is best for themselves. However, as long as we have a healthy and balanced intake of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, I see no harm."
