  • Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) January 13, 2021 - Madison, NJ - Wendi L. Dumbroff, MA, LPC, was a recent guest on “The Matter of the Heart” podcast where she was interviewed by Host Carol Olivia Adams. In this episode, Dumbroff spoke about the importance couples should place on self-awareness in the context of their relationship - especially during tough times.

Dumbroff addressed the types of struggles couples may face in the framework of the pandemic such as communication around new issues – for example children doing remote learning and different demands for privacy.

On the topic of body language, according to Dumbroff, “As a therapist, I have noticed that one of the things we lose through virtual work is a real feeling for the vibe of actually being in the room with other people and feeling more of what’s going on. You can still get a sense through Zoom but we lose a lot in terms of body language...Are they in the same household but in different rooms? Are they sitting on their bed together while they’re Zooming with me? Eye contact between couples can reveal a lot. For example, if one looks away while his or her partner is explaining a disagreement.”
