  • Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2022 - Wendi L. Dumbroff, MA, LPC, sat down for a conversation with Jesse Veritas, Host, Utterly Unscripted.

During an expansive conversation, Dumbroff shared numerous insights on the dynamic of relationships ranging from absent partners to triggers from past traumas.

Dumbroff highlighted the importance of the Vulnerability Cycle, a model developed by Michele Scheinkman and Mona Fishbane, which explains how each person’s coping strategy triggers the other. Often, triggers and coping mechanisms, are buried in people’s childhood experiences, thus making exploration of the family of origin very important.

Dumbroff shed light on this cycle by stating, “There is something called the Vulnerability Cycle and it is amazing because you can always find that cycle between people. When I highlight and illustrate this cycle on paper, it externalizes the problem. It is not that there is something wrong with their partner, it is this cycle that happens between you. When you see that, you can make changes in what you do.”

Later in the episode, Dumbroff also discussed BDSM and said, “There are so many people who find pleasure and healing in BDSM.” She further commented that there is nothing wrong with anything that happens between consenting adults and highlighted the importance of consent.
