  • (1888PressRelease) September 20, 2011 - Dubai - According to 'International Energy Statistics' the UAE emitted 40.13 metric tons of carbon dioxide per capita in 2009, ranking number 26th in the world. Abu Dhabi has therefore invested significant resources into carbon capture, a technology that will capture carbon dioxide and bury it in sophisticated geological structures underground before it hits the atmosphere.

Other technologies however are already available and market tested in other areas of the world that can be used in high carbon emitting countries to effectively reduce carbon footprints. One such company, Magnetic Emission Control AS (MEC AS), is currently in the UAE to discuss its ground-breaking emissions reduction technology.

The company is already engaged with companies in various sectors including land and marine transportation, gas turbines, asphalt and cement production, open flare oil field production and coal burning industries.

"The world is looking for combustion solutions that are low on carbon emissions and more environmentally friendly. Our technology, when applied correctly, leads to increased fuel efficiency, by up to 20 percent and reduced emissions," said Bjorn Skjervold, MEC AS's CEO. "This ultimately results in reduced carbon, soot and particle emissions."

These results came out of a series of 'Engine-Dynamometer Tests' conducted in cooperation with the Auburn University in the United States. Another series of tests were conducted using the J1321 test, an industry standard developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the International Organization of Engineering Professionals) and the American Trucking Association (ATA). Both showed that MEC AS's unique, proprietary technology optimizes combustion processes and increases fuel efficiency. This in turn acts to reduce carbon, soot and particle emissions.

"The SAE J1321 is the 'gold standard' in the United States. Successful completion of the SAE J1321 test, combined with other positive test results from Auburn University, one of America's leading research universities, speaks volumes," said Van Hipp, Jr., former Deputy Assistant for the US Army Secretary and currently MEC AS advisor.

Earlier this year and through its American subsidiary, MEC AS announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Teaming Agreement with Omega-Tec, LLC that became MEC AS's strategic partner for defense and the automotive after-market in North America.

"This is our first trip to the Middle East region and we came to the UAE, the region's business and innovation hub, to showcase our unique technology and seek out opportunities to partner with local organizations looking to reduce their cost of operation by saving on the rising cost of fuel," continued Skjervold. "Our technology reduces fuel consumption could result in savings of millions of dollars, especially for land and water transportation companies."

Currently, MEC AS has over 16,000 satisfied customers in Europe and the United States, many of whom reported fuel savings of between 8 and 12 percent.

However, MEC AS officials believe that the biggest opportunity for increased fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions is with combustion engine manufacturers who can now incorporate the technology into their manufacturing process.

About Magnetic Emission Control (MEC) AS:

Magnetic Emission Control AS (MEC AS) is a Norwegian company that works to optimize combustion processes, and for that reason, save fuel, money and the environment. MEC AS is engaged with companies in various sectors including land and marine transportation, gas turbines, asphalt and cement production, open flare oil field production and coal burning in-dustries.

About Magnetic Emission Control in USA:
MEC AS works in North America through Omega-Tec, MEC AS's strategic partner for defense and the automotive after-market. Currently, MEC AS has over 16,000 satisfied customers in Europe and the United States of America (USA). However, MEC AS officials believe that the biggest opportunity for increased fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions is with com-bustion engine manufacturers, who can now incorporate the technology into their manufac-turing process.
