  • (1888PressRelease) March 25, 2011 - Thorold - According to Bryan Webb, Norton Scientific President, the company topped off a massively successful joint-international launch of its partnership with AstraNet Systems Ltd of the UK at the PITTCON 2011 Conference & Expo in Atlanta GA with the PITTCON Editors Choice Bronze Award for "Best New Product" for the AstraGene Low Volume UV/Vis Spectrometer sold across North America by Norton Scientific and manufactured by AstraNet.

"There were a total of 27 new products nominated by the panel of International journalists from the more than 1,000 exhibits," explains Webb, "and the AstraGene beat strong competition from many much larger corporations including Thermo Fisher Scientific, Mettler Toledo, & Waters for its unique 'Zero Sample Loss' measurement system."

In addition to the award, Norton Scientific was featured in PITTCON Today, the daily journal distributed throughout the 17,000+ delegates at the convention. "The exposure enabled the company to pick up more than 100 leads for the PAM Protein Aggregation Monitor," Webb adds, "including prospective new distributors for key Asian markets and significant OEM interest from 2 major International instrument suppliers that are already being followed up."

Commenting on the overall impact of the exhibition, Webb concludes: "We were delighted with the way our products and approach to satisfying customer needs was received by delegates attending the convention and expect a major boost to sales from the technical press coverage generated and the direct contacts made. We congratulate AstraNet on their success winning the Bronze Award and look forward to PITTCON 2012 in Orlando, when we anticipate adding a similar accolade for the PAM!"

Based in the Niagara Region of Canada, Norton was established in 2010 to take the knowledge and experience of the founders dating back 20+ years in the analysis of complex macromolecular and nano-particulate materials, and design innovative measurement tools for use by bench scientists working in modern research facilities.

Initial target markets for Norton Scientific are the important biochemical applications of protein aggregate screening and the kinetics of protein-protein interactions. Future developments will broaden this base to include applications in biopharmaceutical research, drug delivery, wound healing, advanced materials, food safety, brewing and viticulture, bio-materials, and in-water pollution monitoring.
