"MeterSense will provide us with the integration we require between a number of disparate systems within our operating environment, including the Ontario government's provincial Meter Data Management/Repository MDM/R, our Elster AMI and metering environment, and billing. We chose a hosted solution as it provides us with all the benefits without having the issue of supporting a new system." said Rob Skevington,Operations Regulatory Affairs Manager.

MeterSense is an Operational Data Store that will provide Tillsonburg Hydro with a comprehensive solution to monitor and validate their immediate smart meter rollout plan while supporting their goal of improving customer service by better responding to outage and power quality issues. MeterSense's standard interfaces and a hosted server contribute to rapid deployment. This will allow Tillsonburg to realize the benefits quickly.

The Province of Ontario has embarked on a plan that will see the implementation of resident smart meters on every household by 2011 and the move to time of use billing. This program is part of the government's overall strategy to create and promote a conservation culture and encompasses over four million residential smart meters. The incorporation of both smart grid technology and smart meters will facilitate the use advanced information-based technologies to increase grid efficiency, reliability and flexibility.

Tillsonburg is a multi-service utility and will also be supporting water meters through their Elster Energy Axis system.
