  • (1888PressRelease) August 03, 2011 - Northeastern University's College of Business Administration today unveiled a user-friendly, mobile version of its website for iPhone, Android and Blackberry users. The College of Business Administration (CBA) is the first business school in the Boston area to design a mobile platform specifically for mobile users who want on-the-go access to contact information, college offerings and events.

"We found that more and more of our website traffic was coming from mobile users, so we wanted to make it as easy as possible for them to access important information found on our website," said Acting Dean Harry Lane. "We are proud to serve the needs of these users with cutting-edge technology."

The College's mobile website is compatible with the iPhone, and soon will be compatible with Android and Blackberry. The truncated content is specially formatted to give users quick, simple access to contact information, an overview of degree program offerings, the college and faculty, plus upcoming events. The aim of the mobile site is to streamline the user experience, while offering all of the information needed when away from a computer.

CBA partnered with Blue Train Mobile to provide the content management system (CMS) for the mobile version of its website. BlueTrain Mobile's CMS enables CBA to create and maintain content for the mobile site while ensuring that it is compatible with the latest smartphones. The CBA mobile site also utilizes a plugin for Ektron developed by BlueTrain Mobile that automatically displays frequently updated content from the regular site.

"The CBA marketing team recognized very early on that their mobile audience was growing rapidly, and we are delighted that they turned to BlueTrain Mobile to provide a professional mobile website," said BlueTrain Mobile Conductor and CEO, Steffan Berelowitz.

This news follows recognition of Northeastern CBA's website by The Web Marketing Association for excellence in web development; in 2010 CBA's website won a WebAwards "Standard of Excellence" in the education category. Founded by the Web Marketing Association in 1997, the WebAwards is the standards-defining competition that sets industry benchmarks for the best websites based on the seven criteria of a successful website.

Users with iPhones can access the mobile version of the Northeastern CBA website on their mobile devices immediately by visiting www.cba.neu.edu.
