NC Theatre will receive the Community Leadership Award during a luncheon held by the chamber Tuesday, May 22, from 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center.

    Sponsored by Progress Energy, the Community Leadership Award recognizes organizations whose leadership has made a significant impact in the Raleigh community. This work may confront societal or civic issues; address health or environmental concerns; promote arts, education, or humanities; or promote economic development and local job growth. This award honors organizations whose leaders have motivated and inspired others by creating or developing a program, project, or activity that has had a positive effect on the community. They have developed or proposed creative ways to accomplish the project goals, and have demonstrated a personal commitment to see the project through to its resolution with determined effort. Criteria for the award included having a strong track record with community involvement and being in operation at least three full years.
