  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) April 16, 2015 - Wendy Coulter, President of the North Carolina Executive Roundtable (NCER), announced that Wayne Goodwin will share "Updates from The Department of Insurance" at NCER's next monthly luncheon. Goodwin will speak to the NC Executive Roundtable about insurance issues that affect all North Carolina citizens. The event will take place Friday, May 8th, at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary at 11:45am. The meeting is open to members for $25 and guests for $35.

    In 2008, Goodwin was elected as Insurance Commissioner by the citizens of North Carolina, and again in 2012 for a second term in. Since taking the oath of office, he has redoubled the department's efforts in fighting insurance fraud. Goodwin also has helped save more than $1.5 billion for North Carolina's consumers and businesses. As Insurance Commissioner, he has been a champion for consumers through fair ratemaking, injury prevention efforts and close regulation of insurance company solvency and industry practices. Goodwin has also been very active with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, focusing on preserving state-based insurance regulations.

    Goodwin served as the Assistant Insurance Commissioner from 2004 to 2008. Before joining the Department of Insurance, he served four consecutive terms in the North Carolina House of Representatives representing Richmond, Scotland, Montgomery and Stanly Counties.

    "Goodwin has a vast amount of knowledge on insurance, a subject that has been changing and evolving recently," said Wendy Coulter. "As a group of business owners, it is in our best interest to learn as much as we can about these changing policies and other obstacles that can lay ahead in the world of insurance."
