  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) July 02, 2014 - James Chambers, President of the North Carolina Executive Roundtable (NCER), announced that David King, General Manager of Triangle Transit, will discuss key issues regarding Triangle Transit's role in the area's rapid growth in his talk "Triangle Transit & Triangle Growth". The lecture will take place July 11th, at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary at 11:45am. The meeting is open to members and invited guests, and the cost is $30.00.

King will speak on Triangle Transit's role in guiding growth in the Triangle including expansion of regional bus service and options for light and commuter rail service. As the Triangle's population grows, it is clear we will require additional transportation options to get us where we need to go. How can transit positively affect our quality of life? What transit options are available to us that will meet our unique needs? What is transit-oriented development and how can it help promote transit for us? And, finally, what tools do we have to make transit a reality in the Triangle?

David joined Triangle Transit in 2006 after 32 years at the NC Department of Transportation, having most recently served as Deputy Secretary for Transit where he directed the department's five multimodal divisions including Public Transportation and Rail. King is also is a key player in efforts to expand local and regional bus service and build light rail and commuter rail in the Triangle.

"David is sure to lead a compelling and enlightening discussion regarding the role of the transit industry in the rapidly growing Triangle region," said Chambers. "His vast experience working with NC Department of Transportation and Triangle Transit will provide an insider's perspective/expertise that is sure to widen the perspective of business owners."
