  • (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2013 - NOC Libya, co-hosts of CWC's Libya Oil & Gas Forum, taking place this week, presented four companies working the in the Libyan oil and gas industry with the inaugural Forum awards; Sustainability, Health & Safety and Outstanding Contribution to the Libyan Oil Industry.

Sirte Oil Company was announced as winners of the Outstanding Contribution to the Libyan Oil & Gas Industry Award. Their work, including the reconstruction of damaged facilities to maximise oil production post revolution, the maintenance of electricity supply to industrial and domestic consumers, and their continued exploration for oil after the revolution, made them a notable winner of the Outstanding Contribution award at last night's Libya Forum Awards Ceremony.

Wintershall Libya was presented with the award for Health & Safety in recognition of their HSE policies and zero track records. Distinguished for their zero records in fatalities, lost time injuries and significant environmental incidents, Wintershall Libya is a benchmark company for health and safety practices within the oil industry.

ENI and Suncor were announced as joint winners of the Sustainability Award. ENIs sustainability projects in Libya, including the implementation of emergency health clinics around Libya, the management of their medical waste and their integrated HSE management system, made the Italian oil company a worthy recipient of the sustainability award. Likewise, joint winner Suncor's scholarships and career programs in local schools, oil spill response capabilities and their Naturally-Occurring Radioactive Material project, also firmly cemented their place as joint winners of the Sustainability Award.

The three awards were presented as part of proceedings at the Libya Oil & Gas Forum, held this week (16-18 September 2013) at the Corinthia Hotel, Tripoli, Libya. Supported and fully endorsed by NOC Libya, the Forum is recognised by the industry as the premier meeting for top level Ministry and NOC representatives, high ranking officials from international oil companies and potential new market entrants to discuss the strategies that will drive forward Libya's rich hydrocarbons sector.
