  • (1888PressRelease) June 19, 2013 - New York, NY - Dr. Robert Morin has been bringing smiles to the faces of children his entire professional life. For years it has been his mission to apply his highly specialized skills in craniofacial surgery and pediatric plastic surgery to reconstructing the faces of children born with congenital ear deformities, cleft lips and palates, and deformities of the nose.

Beyond treating the children of the tri-state area, Dr. Morin spends a full week each year in a developing country performing reconstructive facial surgeries on underprivileged children. The doctor donates his time because it is his passion.

"I love reconstructing kid's faces," he says. "I love seeing the look on a mother's face the first time she sees her baby after his or her cleft lip is repaired. It's the best part of being a plastic surgeon."

That feeling is exactly what led the doctor to co-found a 501(c)(3) charity that will fund regular surgical missions to developing countries. Aptly named Developing Faces Inc., Dr. Morin, along with Manhattan-based business development expert Susan Kim and Washington DC attorney Alyson Guyan will sit on the board directors as co-founders.

"It is our goal to provide high quality surgical care to babies and children with facial abnormalities living in developing countries around the world," says Dr. Morin.

The doctor has gone on a number of surgical missions with other foundations to countries including Guatemala, Colombia, Mauritius, the Philippines and Haiti. He's worked with a variety of specialists including neurosurgeons, surgical oncologists, dermatologists and neonatologists to treat pediatric patients with traumatic injuries, congenital abnormalities and cancer.

Developing Faces Inc., which will be based out of New York City, will hold its first fund-raising event in Manhattan in October 2013, with the first charitable mission planned for Colombia in the winter of 2014.

Dr. Morin is very excited about the prospect of getting to do the work he truly loves.

"This charity will allow me to perform surgeries I love while helping to improve the lives of children."
