  • Jacksonville, FL (1888PressRelease) February 10, 2016 - OurVETS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is pleased to announce it has officially started operations. The recently created nonprofit was formed to bring relief to Veterans Enduring Tough Situations. The first fundraising effort of OurVETS will be focused on providing service dogs to veterans in need.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to help those who risked their lives to protect our way of life," said OurVets President Sherry Roux. "Our veterans deserve nothing but the best and we are here to help."

OurVETS' goal is to help as many veterans in need as possible. They will help those who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and need a companion dog, to veterans who are amputees or physically handicapped and need service dogs to provide routine tasks. OurVETS will find those veterans and bring them relief. In addition to service dogs, the organization will also work towards providing financial help to veterans needing health care assistance. The nonprofit realizes those injured in combat may have a long term need for health care and they are looking to assist veterans and their families with that long term care and assisted living. OurVETS plans to create a program that will be ongoing and able to assist veterans and their families well into the future.

OurVETS was formed by two families in Gilchrist County who, while volunteering in the community, noticed there was not enough help for veterans returning from combat. The Roux family and the Biddle family found many were suffering from both physical and mental injuries with nowhere to turn. They decided to take action to help these veterans and established the organization for Veterans Enduring Tough Situations. Sherry Roux is serving as the president of OurVETS and Wendy Biddle is the vice president. Robert Roux and David Biddle serve on the board of directors.

OurVETS is based out of Trenton, FL. They will be seeking donations and hosting fundraisers in Florida and throughout the country to raise money to further their cause. More information can be found at www.ourvetsamerica.com.
