  • (1888PressRelease) February 27, 2013 - Lancashire, UK - Issue 1 of new monthly magazine, Lancashire Walks and Wildlife, launches this week, featuring some of the best walks across the region and offering a detailed look at the county's diverse wildlife.

    Aiming to encourage people to get the most from their region's countryside, Lancashire Walks and Wildlife magazine will showcase six stunning countryside walks each month and explore local wildlife, while also offering expert advice, reviews and competitions.

    Lancashire Walks and Wildlife editor, Andrew Barton, said:

    "We're delighted to be launching issue 1 of Lancashire Walks and Wildlife this week and can't wait to hear what people think of it.

    "Issue 1 is packed with 116 pages full of fantastic Lancashire walks, top tips on spotting the region's owls and a close look at two of the region's nature reserves, WWT Martin Mere in Burscough and Preston's picturesque reserve, Brockholes.

    "There will also be a look at local photographer Mike Jones' stunning portfolio, a handy guide to walking and the law and six great step by step walks, all tried and tested by the Lancashire Walks and Wildlife team.

    "The six walks in issue 1 include easy strolls such as Yarrow Valley Country Park to scenic walks by the Lancaster Canal and a more challenging route up the spectacular Pendle Hill.

    "Each route has been graded according to ability and comes complete with its own, easy to follow cut out map, plus our recommendations on what to see and do in the area."

    Regular features include a guide to foraging in Lancashire and what's best to look for this month, reviews, photography competition and news and events from around the county.
