  • (1888PressRelease) April 28, 2021 - Leisure United appoint industry stalwart Warren Ormerod as Managing Director, to spearhead the charitable trust from April 1st. Ormerod’s appointment will strengthen Leisure United’s future delivery of best-in-class community football and fitness facilities, nationwide.

    To date, Leisure United has proudly been part of the partnership responsible for 10 new football and fitness hubs, in Sheffield, Liverpool and Sunderland. These flagship investments of the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation have been developed in partnership with each local council and the grassroots football community.

    Leisure United Chairman, David Gallagher comments, “The appointment of Warren Ormerod as Managing Director brings a legacy of commitment to inclusive football provision of the highest quality in our communities. After a challenging year for everyone involved in sport and fitness, Warren will bring stability and focus, as we get back to the game, with a keen ambition for growth”.

    Ormerod comes with a wealth of experience. He co-founded Power League in 1995 and then went on to spend 14 years as Director for Soccer and Fitness with Pulse and most recently as a leisure consultant. Ormerod will be focused on driving the vision, direction and strategy of Leisure United, working closely with Dean Hogan, Director of Operations.

    Ormerod said, “Having had huge exposure to this project, it’s a privilege to continue my lifelong commitment to shaping football, ensuring inclusivity and quality facilities for all. Already, Leisure United has achieved a tremendous amount with the help and support of our partners. our ambition is to grow the grassroots game along with fitness, by engaging communities and growing participation”.

    Leisure United is rolling out a new, customer-facing identity for the charity, with a new website at its centre, leisureunited.org. The new website will showcase football, fitness and community initiatives with a fully integrated online registration and booking system. Leisure United is actively seeking out expansion projects, to work in partnership and to help continue the growth of first-class community football and fitness facilities.
