  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) April 17, 2014 - Jonas Sills, vocalist, conductor and actor has joined with Ray Buffer, formerly Artistic Producing Director of The Relevant Stage in San Pedro to create a new organization in Long Beach called Art-In-Relation. The company will house different aspects of intentional art, including Los Angeles Musical Theatre Youth Chorus as well as other music concert endeavors, a theatre company, and a holistic/healing arts component. The acronym for the organization, A.I.R. is a deliberate tribute to the Hindu word, Vāyu which represents wind as a deity that "breathes new life". Sills and Buffer intend to breathe new life into plays, musicals and concert music.

    Sills grew up in Manhattan Beach, CA and was a sought after performer even as a young child. He continued to perform in operas, musicals and plays while also working as a soloist for concerts and churches. Currently Sills is a teacher with LBUSD teaching music in elementary schools and is the executive/artistic director and conductor of the Los Angeles Musical Theatre Youth Chorus.

    Buffer grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida and migrated to California in 1999. Buffer has had a career of working in musical theatre performance and film as well as arts management. He has served as an Equity stage manager for several productions, worked in marketing and development for The Laguna Playhouse, spent a year as general manager for Long Beach Opera, and ran his own company in San Pedro for four seasons. Buffer has directed and produced a number of musical theatre productions as well as produced stand-up comedy events, burlesque shows and film festivals.

    Art-In-Relation will present Los Angeles Musical Theatre Youth Chorus (LAMTYC) in concert in Los Angeles at Founder's Church inside Holmes Chapel at 3281 6th Street, LA 90020 on May 18, 2014 at 5PM.     Special guest artist Richard Kinsey will sing with the children, Kinsey is known for his work as Javier in "Les Miserables" on Broadway as well as the national tours. Local audiences may know him from his work in Jane Eyre at Fullerton Civic Light Opera.

    "Frankenstein" is based on the Mary Shelley novel, and has music by Mark Baron, lyrics by Jeffrey Jackson, and a book by Jackson and Gary P. Cohen, based on the Mary Shelley novel of the same name. In this version of the famous story, when Frankenstein rejects his hideous Creature, the Creature takes its revenge on his creator's family; eventually both creator and Creature learn a lesson about love.
