  • Fort Worth-Arlington, TX (1888PressRelease) August 19, 2011 - Today, official word was sent by the publishing staff of Chicken Soup for the Soul that local author Julie B Cosgrove's short story "Basket Case" will be featured in their new publication Find Your Happiness, to be released on October 25, 2011.

Chicken Soup for the Soul has long been known for its uplifting and inspirational stories which expound real stories from real people. Mrs. Cosgrove, a recent widow, wrote the story out of her grief over losing her husband suddenly to a fatal aneurysm last November, and the comfort she found in an ordinary household object, her laundry basket. The author stated, "After the initial shock and anguish of death subsides, grief revisits unexpectedly through the silliest, ordinary things. It sneaks up on you like a small child playing, "Boo", and catches you off guard. But, there can also be a bit of comfort, and a lesson learned if you are open to it. It's all part of the healing process. I wanted people to know that."

In the short story, Julie Cosgrove tells how a lone sock leftover from her husband's personal items, spawned her to realize another time in her life when she saw a woman overburdened with a laundry basket. That woman's reaction to others wanting to help her, made the author realize how she had been reacting as well, which in turn, has led to a new awareness.

"I am less stoic than I was, less unwilling to ask others for help. It has been a hard lesson, but it has opened me up to be loved, and to be more loving," the freelance writer, speaker and author admitted. "Even in something as horrific as death, God can show rays of goodness and hope."

Cosgrove has authored three other works in the form of two Bible studies and one devotional on the book of Psalms, available in paperback through Amazon.com., and also on Nook and IPad format. She lectures to women's groups throughout Texas and also writes for several national devotionals and Biblical commentaries as well as Christian women's websites. Her first novel, Focused , set in the Texas Hill Country, is to be released by Lighthouse Christian Publishers later in 2011.
